Michael: Here's the way to ask 'Who is it?' in Norwegian.

Michael: First is a word meaning 'who'
Inger: [Normal] hvem [Slow] hvem
Michael: Next is the word meaning 'is'
Inger: [Normal] er [Slow] er
Michael: Last is the word meaning 'it'
Inger: [Normal] det [Slow] det
Michael: Note the rising intonation. Listen again to the question meaning 'Who is it?'

Inger: In Norway, if someone rings or knocks at your door, you just go and open it right away. People don't often use a peephole, as the level of trust in the Norwegian society is high, and you rarely have anything to fear from the person on the other side of the door. However, if you feel safer to ask first, use the sentence we just learned Hvem er det?
