Lesson Transcript

Hi everybody. Welcome back to Top Norwegian words. This is Anette and today, we are going to look at 10 Foods That Will Kill You Faster.
1. Bacon "bacon"
Bacon og egg er godt til frokost. "Bacon and eggs is nice for breakfast."
I really like Bacon and eggs but yeah, we shouldn’t eat it every morning if we want to avoid dying an early death.
2. energidrikker "energy drinks"
Folk som trener drikker ofte energidrikker. "People who exercise often drink energy drinks."
Well, as you probably know, there is a lot of sugar in energy drinks. So if you can, you might want to avoid drinking it every time you exercise.
3. bearbeidet kjøtt "processed meat"
Bearbeidet kjøtt smaker ikke like godt som ferskt kjøtt. "Processed meat does not taste as good as fresh meat."
Hamburgers, yeah. Hamburgers are good but they are going to kill you too. Sorry!
4. frossenmat "frozen meals"
Frossenmat er lett å lage. "Frozen meals are easy to make."
These days, getting frozen food is so convenient but it’s probably better for your health to make it from scratch.
5. Potetgull"potato chips"
Potetgull har veldig mye kalorier. "Potato chips are high in calories."
Potato chips is really good as well. So many temptations in this lesson. It’s hard.
6. Margarin "margarine"
Margarin kan brukes i stedet for smør. "Margarine can be used instead of butter."
Well even though you can use it instead of butter, butter is probably better for you. So, go for the right decision, the butter. A couple of years ago, a lot of the Norwegian stores had an incident where they ran out of butter right before Christmas and it became a national crisis known as the butter crisis, smørkrisen. Now, that is a really big part of Norwegian culture right there.
7. Hurtignudler "instant noodles"
Hurtignudler kan ikke være bra for deg. "Instant noodles cannot be good for you."
Um, we don’t have that many varieties of instant noodles in Norway but you can try Mr Lee.
8. Godteri "candy"
Godteri er bare lov på lørdager. "Candies are only allowed on Saturdays."
Yeah, my family used to be quite strict about godteri as well and I would only get candy on Saturdays.
9. Brus "soda"
Jeg drikker veldig lite brus fordi jeg synes det er for søtt. "I drink very little soda because I think it's too sweet."
I almost never drink soda actually. I think that once you get used to not drinking it, then, you don’t really miss it in your life either. So yeah, it’s really good to cut it out if you can.
10. Sukker "sugar"
Vi spiser altfor mye sukker. "We eat too much sugar."
When you eat out, you don’t know exactly what’s in your food and these days, the food you can buy in the stores often have like hidden sugar and stuff. So in that sense, it’s better to make it all from scratch and stay healthy.
Okay, everybody. That’s all for now. Thank you all for watching. Please let us know in the comments section below what kind of food you eat in order to stay healthy.
Thank you, ha det bra, vi ses senere.
I really like Bacon and eggs. It’s good. How should I start? Um, sounds like an advertisement for butter.
