Brandon: And welcome to Culture Class: Essential Norwegian Vocabulary, Lesson 17! In this lesson you'll learn five essential words related to recreation and leisure. Brandon: Vigelandsparken is known for all the statues it holds, which were created by Gustav Vigeland. The most famous one is the Monolith, which is 14 meters high and has 121 human figures carved into the stone.

Brandon: Norway has around 1,000 stave churches, and is the only country in Northern Europe which still has stave churches from the Middle Ages. The oldest stave church is Urnes stavkirke, which was built in 1150 and is on UNESCO's World Heritage List.

Brandon: Preacher’s Pulpit is a mountain that looks like a big pulpit. It’s located right over the Lysefjord and is a popular hiking spot. When you stand at the peak, you will get a majestic view over the fjord scenery.

Brandon: The Atlantic Road has seven bridges and is an 8-kilometer long road from the city Kristiandsund to the city Molde. The road is a national tourist route because of the architecture on the road and bridges, and also because of the natural beauty along the route.
