Alisha: Slang Words and Expressions from Trondheim
Alisha: Hi everyone, and welcome back to NorwegianClass101.com. I'm Alisha.
Patrick: And I'm Patrick!
Alisha: This is Must-Know Norwegian Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 21. In this lesson you'll learn slang words and expressions from Trondheim.
Alisha: Trondheim is the biggest city in Central Norway and is home to some of the most important and beautiful buildings in the country. Visitors really should try to understand some of the local slang.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Alisha: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Patrick: klar
Patrick: læll
Patrick: sopinn
Patrick: kakskiv
Alisha: Patrick, what's our first expression?
Patrick: klar
Alisha: literally meaning "ready." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "tired."
Patrick: [SLOW] klar [NORMAL] klar
Alisha: Listeners, please repeat.
Patrick: klar
[pause - 5 sec.]
Alisha: Use this slang expression when you are tired.
Alisha: Now let's hear an example sentence.

Alisha: "I'm so tired!"
Patrick: [NORMAL] Jeg er så klar!
Alisha: Okay, what's the next expression?

Patrick: [SLOW] læll [NORMAL] læll
Alisha: Listeners, please repeat.
Patrick: læll
[pause - 5 sec.]
Alisha: Use this slang expression when you want to say that you are doing something after all. This word is used a lot in Trondheim, and it's hard to understand unless you already know the meaning.
Alisha: Now let's hear an example sentence.
Patrick: [NORMAL] Jeg følte meg syk, men dro på skolen, læll. [SLOW] Jeg følte meg syk, men dro på skolen, læll.
Alisha: "I felt sick, but went to school anyway."
Patrick: [NORMAL] Jeg følte meg syk, men dro på skolen, læll.

Patrick: [SLOW] sopinn [NORMAL] sopinn
Alisha: Listeners, please repeat.
