Peter: Listeners, you’re about to find out.
Chigusa: Welcome to an episode of Innovative Language Sunday News! I'm Chigusa and I'll be hosting today's Sunday News with my co-host, the founder of InnovativeLanguage.com... Peter Galante!
Peter: Hi everyone! Peter here!
Chigusa: In this Sunday News, you’ll learn all about the 5 minute rule to language learning...
Peter: ...how it will help you master a language and succeed in the LONG run...
Chigusa: ...and how you can apply it to our lessons... right now!
Body
Peter: Listeners, what if you could learn a language in just 5 minutes a day.
Chigusa: As in, just spend 5 minutes today and that’s it.
Peter: Now, you might think “Peter, I won’t get fluent like that,”
Chigusa: ...or you might wonder “5 minutes? Shouldn’t I be doing more?”
Peter: And you’re right. In the long term, learning a language will take you a lot more than just 5 minutes.
Chigusa: But... what makes the 5 minute rule so powerful is...
Peter: ...listeners, it makes learning easy. It creates a path of least resistance....
Chigusa: ...and sets you up for rock-solid, long term success.
Peter: You’ll learn more in just a second, but first, listen up.

Chigusa: Alright, Peter, so first - what is the 5 minute rule?
Peter: Well, actually, Chigusa, it’s actually a rule I came up with...a while ago... while watching YouTube.
Chigusa: Oh? I love YouTube. What were you watching?
Peter: I don’t remember what it was exactly so it wasn’t very important...but it was 5 minutes long!
Chigusa: Well, to be honest, I watch so much that even I don’t remember.
Peter: That was random! But I thought... if I have the 5 minutes to watch this video...
Chigusa: ...then you have 5 minutes to learn a bit of language.
Peter: You got it. So, listeners, the rule is: you only need 5 minutes a day to start learning a language.
Chigusa: Peter, but why just 5 minutes? What’s so special about this number?
Peter: Here’s what makes it so powerful. First, it makes learning easy. Imagine this.
Chigusa: Okay, I’m imagining.
Peter: It’s Monday morning. You get up. You plan your day out in your head. End work at 5. Eat dinner at 7. And you remember that you also have to spend a few HOURS on learning at night.
Chigusa: ...Ah.... you’ll probably start thinking things like “I don’t have that kind of time...” “This isn’t going to be easy” “...and I really wanted to do something ELSE today.”
Peter: Basically, you’ll be dreading it all day. And you won’t enjoy learning.
Chigusa: Ah, but with this rule, you only have to put in 5 minutes a day. That’s it.
Peter: When your time’s up, you’re done. It lifts that heavy burden.
Chigusa: You don’t have to worry about it.
Peter: Second, it makes learning easy to continue. If you can do it in just 5 minutes...
Chigusa: ...you can do it tomorrow, the next day, the day after that..
Peter: So, this gives you a successful routine.
Chigusa: Now, you can actually stick with mastering the language... in the long term.
Peter: And third, you can easily upgrade your routine.
Chigusa: Yeah, eventually, you’ll realize that 5 minutes is too easy... and you can do more.
Peter: Before you know it, you’ll be putting in 7, 10 or 15 minutes a day.
Chigusa: ....and you’re now speaking a lot of more of the language.
Peter: Alright, now... here’s how you apply this 5 minute rule.
Chigusa: Listeners, the very first thing you should do is... take out your phone, open up the clock application..
Peter ...and set the timer to 5 minutes.
Chigusa: And also... decide when and where you’ll put in the 5 minutes.
Peter: In my case, I do it on the train while going to work. So, every day at 9AM on the train.
Chigusa: Then, start learning with our audio and video lessons.
Peter: They’re anywhere from 3 to 15 minutes in length... so you can easily spend 5 minutes on a lesson.
Chigusa: You can also review the vocabulary and phrase lists, review the word of the day...
Peter: ...or drill words with flashcards for 5 minutes.
Chigusa: Just set aside the time and stick with it until the 5 minutes are up.
Peter: By adding that 5-minute limit, learning becomes much easier...
Chigusa: Yeah, you don’t have to stress about spending hours...
Peter: ...and you don’t have to stress about “HOW” to learn. Just play a lesson.
Chigusa: And that’s it!
Peter: And listeners, remember...
