Brandon: Slippery ice is a big problem in the winter in Norway. During the winter it gets really cold, and sometimes the snow melts a bit and then freezes again. This makes the roads very dangerous, especially when it snows on top of the ice. |

Brandon: A landslide can be caused by things like ground water, soil structure, and earthquakes. Norway has had several landslides, one of which was called the Hatlestad Slide. Three people died and seven were wounded in that landslide. |

Brandon: A flood happens when the water level in lakes and rivers is higher than usual. The Vesleofsen flood in 1995 was the biggest in Norway’s history. This flood was caused by sudden warm weather that melted the snow and was then followed by rainfall. |

Brandon: There can be some very strong storms in Norway, usually on the west coast. In 2011, a storm called Dagmar hit Norway’s coast and was probably the strongest storm Norway has had in over 50 years. Dagmar was later upgraded to cyclone status. |
