Hello everybody and welcome back to Top Norwegian words. Today, we are going to look at 10 Top Things to Do in the Summer in Norway.
1. Slappe av på stranden "relax at the beach"
Han gjør ikke annet enn å slappe av på stranden når han er på ferie. "He doesn't do anything but relax on the beach when he's on holiday."
2. Lær norsk med NorwegianClass101.com. "Learn Norwegian with NorwegianClass101.com.
Don’t forget to study. You can bring your book to the beach.
3. Lære å lage norsk mat "to learn to cook Norwegian food"
Dette er et kokkekurs for å lære å lage norsk mat. "This is a cooking course to learn to cook Norwegian food."
Norwegian fish is really delicious. You should try out some Salmon or some Mackerel.
4. Ha en grillfest "to have a barbeque"
Jeg skal ha en grillfest hjemme hos meg i morgen. "I am having a barbeque at my place tomorrow."
In Norway, it’s very expensive to dine out. So a lot of people would have grillfest at their home. So if you make any Norwegian friends, make sure you get the chance to go to a grillfest.
5. Feste hele natten "to party all night"
I dag skal vi feste hele natta. "Today we will be partying all night."
Party, party!
6. Få en brunfarge "to get a tan"
Jeg ligger ofte på balkongen for å få en brunfarge. "I often lie on the balcony to get a tan."
Actually, Norwegians love getting a tan so much that a lot of them would go to a tanning salon, solarium, in the winter.
7. Gå tur "to go hiking"
Jeg elsker å gå tur i fjellene. "I love to go hiking in the mountains."
This phrase you can actually use very often just to say I want to go for a stroll for instance,
Skal vi gå på tur. “Let’s go for a stroll.”
8. Jobb i en deltidsjobb "to work a part-time job"
Jeg jobber i en deltidsjobb i sommer for å tjene penger. "I work at a part-time job this summer to earn money."
In Norway, it’s common to take a summer job, sommerjobb.
9. Ha det gøy med venner "to have fun with friends"
Med vennene mine har jeg det alltid gøy! "I always have fun with my friends."
10. Delta på sommerskole "to attend summer school"
I år skal jeg delta på sommerskole. "This year I will attend a summer school."
