Hi, everybody! This is Anette! Welcome back to NorwegianPod101.com
Today, we're looking at Top 10 Phrases to Know When Having a Baby. So let's get started!
1. bytte en bleie "to change a diaper"
Kan du bytte bleie? "Can you change diapers?"
No, that's certainly something I'd like to avoid for a couple or more years.
2. sett på en smekke "to put on a bib"
Sett på smekken før hun begynner å spise! "Put the bib on before she starts eating!"
3. skifte klær "to change clothes"
Kan du skifte klærne også? "Can you also change the clothes?"
4. ta en lur "to take a nap"
Jeg må ta en lur jeg er så sliten. "I must take a nap; I'm so tired."
Getting a bit tired here.
5. kjøpe et barnesete "to buy a child seat"
Skal vi kjøpe et barnesete? "Shall we buy a child seat?"
6. mate "to feed"
Kan du mate ungene? "Can you feed the kids?"
7. dytte en barnevogn "to push a stroller"
Fedrene går på tur mens de dytter hver sin barnevogn. "Each of the fathers are pushing a stroller."
In Norway, it's very common for the dad to have just as much responsibility at home as the mother. So it's very common for fathers to spend a lot of time with their kids as well.
8. lese en bok "to read a book"
Kan du lese denne boken høyt for meg? "Can you read this book out loud for me?"
My parents used to read books to us every night before going to bed, and sometimes I would even memorize my favorite books and if my mom tries to skip some lines in order to finish the book quicker, I would say, "no, no no, you missed out this phrase"
So yeah, pretty annoying kid, right?
9. bade "to bathe"
Jeg vil bade i badekaret. "I want to bathe."
I think it's more common to take showers, but Norwegian houses usually have a bathtub as well.
10. lage babymat "to make baby food"
Lager du babymat? "Can you make baby food?"
Ok, everybody! That's all for now! We've been looking at Top 10 Phrases to Know When Having a Baby.
We'll see you again next week, so thank you and Ha det bra!
