Hi everyone! I'm Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We've found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you'll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you'll learn conversational phrases to use when apologizing to someone. After watching this video, you'll be able to apologize and say what you're apologizing for.
Now, let's take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Jeg beklager at jeg er sen.
Ikke noe å bekymre seg for.
Once more with the English translation.
Jeg beklager at jeg er sen.
“I'm sorry for being late.”
Ikke noe å bekymre seg for.
“Don't worry about it.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say "I'm sorry for [reason]."
The pattern is: Jeg beklager at jeg [reason].
This Norwegian sentence literally translates as "I apologize that I [reason]." But it means "I'm sorry for [reason].".
For example:
"I'm sorry for being late."
Jeg beklager at jeg er sen., Jeg beklager at jeg er sen.
Now, how do you respond that it's okay?
Ikke noe å bekymre seg for.
"Don't worry about it."
Listen to it again: Ikke noe å bekymre seg for., Ikke noe å bekymre seg for.
This Norwegian sentence translates as "Not something to worry yourself about." But it means "Don't worry about it."
